What a weekend for the Leaside Junior Elite U22 Wildcats!

Competing in the fiercely competitive U22 Silver Championships, the Wildcats clawed their way into the medal round—an incredible feat considering the field of 18 top-tier teams. While they ultimately finished fourth overall, the journey there was nothing short of epic, proving that this team is one to watch.

The Wildcats faced the ever-strong Burlington Barracudas in the Bronze medal game, a tough matchup that ended in a hard-fought loss. But the story of the weekend is all about heart, resilience, and growth.

In the round robin, Leaside found themselves in a 3-0 hole but refused to back down. The team roared back to force overtime, earning a crucial point that turned out to be the game-changer. That single point pushed them through to the medal round, and it was a performance that set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

Following that dramatic comeback, goaltender Isabella Lane #88 stepped up in a big way, posting back-to-back shutouts in the next two games. Her rock-solid presence between the pipes was instrumental in keeping the Wildcats' medal hopes alive—and electrifying the bench every step of the way.

With Provincials on deck this weekend, the Wildcats are riding high and ready to bring that same fire to the ice. If this past weekend was any indication, Leaside is peaking at the perfect time—and they’re not done yet.

Go Wildcats!
